Sinoceratops was formally named in 2010 by X. Xu and colleagues. The name means “chinese horned face.”
Fossils referred to Sinoceratops date to the Late Cretaceous (Campanian), roughly 83.6 to 72.2 million years ago. Finds come from China, including the Hongtuya Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.
Published estimates put Sinoceratops at a length near 5 m, hips about 2.6 m high, and a body mass around 2 tonnes.
