The story in short

In 1996, E. Buffetaut and colleagues published the name Siamotyrannus. The name means “siamese tyrant.”

It lived in the Early Cretaceous (Valanginian · Hauterivian), roughly 137.1 to 125.8 million years ago. Finds come from Thailand, including the Sao Khua Formation. It was a carnivore and walked on two legs.

Published estimates put Siamotyrannus at a length near 6–10 m, hips about 2.5 m high, and a body mass around 0.5–1.8 tonnes.

On the family tree it sits in Metriacanthosaurinae, among the theropod dinosaurs.
