The story in short

The genus Siamraptor dates to 2019, the year D. Chokchaloemwong and colleagues described it. The name means “siamese plunderer.”

Fossils referred to Siamraptor date to the Early Cretaceous (Aptian), roughly 121.4 to 113.2 million years ago. Finds come from Thailand, including the Khok Kruat Formation. It was a carnivore and walked on two legs.

Published estimates put Siamraptor at a length near 8 m, hips about 2.1 m high, and a body mass around 1.2 tonnes.

On the family tree it sits in Carcharodontosauria, among the theropod dinosaurs.
