The story in short

In 1924, H. F. Osborn published the name Prodeinodon. The name means “before Deinodon.”

It lived in the Early Cretaceous (Berriasian–Barremian), roughly 143.1 to 121.4 million years ago. Finds come from Mongolia, including the Öösh Formation. It was a carnivore and walked on two legs.

The fossils of Prodeinodon are too incomplete for a responsible length, hip height, or weight, so those fields are left blank on purpose.

On the family tree it sits in Tetanurae, among the theropod dinosaurs.
