The story in short
In 2011, R. Stanford and colleagues published the name Propanoplosaurus. The name means “before Panoplosaurus.”
It lived in the Early Cretaceous (Aptian), roughly 121.4 to 113.2 million years ago. Finds come from the United States, including the Patuxent Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.
The fossils of Propanoplosaurus are too incomplete for a responsible length, hip height, or weight, so those fields are left blank on purpose.
On the family tree it sits in Nodosauridae, among the armored dinosaurs.
