The story in short

In 2010, J. Mo and colleagues published the name Liubangosaurus. The name means “liubang lizard.”

Fossils referred to Liubangosaurus date to the Early Cretaceous (Aptian), roughly 121.4 to 113.2 million years ago. Finds come from China, including the Xinlong Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.

Published estimates put Liubangosaurus at a length near 26 m, hips about 4.5 m high, and a body mass around 26 tonnes.

On the family tree it sits in Somphospondyli, among the sauropod dinosaurs.
