Angolatitan was formally named in 2011 by O. Mateus and colleagues. The name means “angolan giant.”
Fossils referred to Angolatitan date to the Late Cretaceous (Coniacian), roughly 89.8 to 85.7 million years ago. Finds come from AO, including the Itombe Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.
Published estimates put Angolatitan at a length near 13 m, hips about 2.5 m high, and a body mass around 6 tonnes.
