The story in short

In 2011, R. N. Martínez and colleagues published the name Eodromaeus.

Fossils referred to Eodromaeus date to the Late Triassic (Carnian), roughly 237 to 227.3 million years ago. Finds come from Argentina, including the Ischigualasto Formation. It was a carnivore and walked on two legs.

Published estimates put Eodromaeus at a length near 1.2 m, hips about 0.2 m high, and a body mass around 5–7 kg.

On the family tree it sits in Theropoda, among the theropod dinosaurs.
