In 2012, M. J. Ryan and colleagues published the name Coronosaurus. The name means “crowned lizard.”
It lived in the Late Cretaceous (Campanian), roughly 83.6 to 72.2 million years ago. Finds come from Canada, including the Oldman Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.
Published estimates put Coronosaurus at a length near 5 m, hips about 1.8 m high, and a body mass around 2 tonnes.
