The story in short
Corythoraptor was formally named in 2017 by J. Lü and colleagues. The name means “helmeted thief.”
Fossils referred to Corythoraptor date to the Late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian), roughly 72.2 to 66 million years ago. Finds come from China, including the Nanxiong Formation. It was an omnivore and walked on two legs.
Published estimates put Corythoraptor at a length near 1.6 m, hips about 0.6 m high, and a body mass around 40 kg.
