The story in short
Chubutisaurus was formally named in 1975 by G. del Corro. The name means “chubut lizard.”
It lived in the Early Cretaceous (Albian), roughly 113.2 to 100.5 million years ago. Finds come from Argentina, including the Cerro Barcino Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.
Published estimates put Chubutisaurus at a length near 23 m, hips about 3.5 m high, and a body mass around 12 tonnes.
