The story in short

Tototlmimus was formally named in 2016 by C. I. Serrano-Brañas and colleagues. The name means “bird mimic.”

It lived in the Late Cretaceous (Campanian), roughly 83.6 to 72.2 million years ago. Finds come from Mexico, including the Packard Shale Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on two legs.

Published estimates put Tototlmimus at a length near 2.5 m, hips about 0.7 m high, and a body mass around 35 kg.

On the family tree it sits in Ornithomimidae, among the theropod dinosaurs.
