In 2003, Y. Kobayashi and J. Lü published the name Sinornithomimus. The name means “chinese bird mimic.”
Fossils referred to Sinornithomimus date to the Late Cretaceous (Turonian), roughly 93.9 to 89.8 million years ago. Finds come from China, including the Ulansuhai Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on two legs.
Published estimates put Sinornithomimus at a length near 2.5 m, hips about 0.8 m high, and a body mass around 91 kg.
