In 2016, S. F. Poropat and colleagues published the name Savannasaurus.

It lived in the Late Cretaceous (Cenomanian · Turonian), roughly 100.5 to 89.8 million years ago. Finds come from Australia, including the Winton Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.

Published estimates put Savannasaurus at a length near 15 m, hips about 2.9 m high, and a body mass around 20 tonnes.

On the family tree it sits in Diamantinasauria, among the sauropod dinosaurs.
