In 2013, B. J. González Riga and L. Ortiz David published the name Quetecsaurus. The name means “fire lizard.”
Fossils referred to Quetecsaurus date to the Late Cretaceous (Turonian), roughly 93.9 to 89.8 million years ago. Finds come from Argentina, including the Cerro Lisandro Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.
Published estimates put Quetecsaurus at a length near 15 m.
