The genus Panguraptor dates to 2014, the year H. L. You and colleagues described it. The name means “pangu plunderer.”
It lived in the Early Jurassic (Hettangian · Sinemurian), roughly 201.4 to 192.9 million years ago. Finds come from China, including the Lufeng Formation. It was a carnivore and walked on two legs.
Published estimates put Panguraptor at a length near 2 m, hips about 0.5 m high, and a body mass around 30 kg.
