The story in short
The genus Ostafrikasaurus dates to 2012, the year E. Buffetaut described it. The name means “east Africa lizard.”
It lived in the Late Jurassic (Tithonian), roughly 149.2 to 143.1 million years ago. Finds come from Tanzania, including the Tendaguru Formation. It was a carnivore. A habitual gait is not settled.
The fossils of Ostafrikasaurus are too incomplete for a responsible length, hip height, or weight, so those fields are left blank on purpose.
On the family tree it sits in Theropoda, among the theropod dinosaurs.
