The story in short
In 2003, P. Godefroit and colleagues published the name Olorotitan. The name means “giant swan.”
It lived in the Late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian), roughly 72.2 to 66 million years ago. Finds come from Russia, including the Udurchukan Formation. It was a herbivore and could move on two or four legs.
Published estimates put Olorotitan at a length near 8 m and a body mass around 2.6–3.4 tonnes.
On the family tree it sits in Lambeosaurinae, among the ornithopod dinosaurs.
