In 2020, R. Royo-Torres and colleagues published the name Narindasaurus. The name means “narinda Bay lizard.”
Fossils referred to Narindasaurus date to the Middle Jurassic (Bathonian), roughly 168.2 to 165.3 million years ago. Finds come from Madagascar, including the Isalo III Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.
Published estimates put Narindasaurus at a length near 13.5 m, hips about 3.7 m high, and a body mass around 8 tonnes.
On the family tree it sits in Turiasauria, among the sauropod dinosaurs.
