In 2001, M. L. Casanovas and colleagues published the name Losillasaurus. The name means “losilla lizard.”
It lived in the Late Jurassic (Kimmeridgian · Tithonian), roughly 154.8 to 143.1 million years ago. Finds come from Spain, including the Villar del Arzobispo Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.
Published estimates put Losillasaurus at a length near 15–18 m, hips about 5 m high, and a body mass around 12–15 tonnes.
