Lokiceratops was formally named in 2024 by M. A. Loewen and colleagues. The name means “horned face.”

Fossils referred to Lokiceratops date to the Late Cretaceous (Campanian), roughly 83.6 to 72.2 million years ago. Finds come from the United States, including the Judith River Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.

Published estimates put Lokiceratops at a length near 6.7 m, hips about 2 m high, and a body mass around 5 tonnes.
