The story in short
Leonerasaurus was formally named in 2011 by D. Pol and colleagues. The name means “las Leoneras lizard.”
It lived in the Early Jurassic (Pliensbachian), roughly 192.9 to 184.2 million years ago. Finds come from Argentina, including the Las Leoneras Formation. It was a herbivore and could move on two or four legs.
Published estimates put Leonerasaurus at a length near 2.4 m, hips about 0.7 m high, and a body mass around 70 kg.
