In 2003, Y. Kobayashi and Y. Azuma published the name Fukuisaurus. The name means “fortunate Well.”
It lived in the Early Cretaceous (Aptian), roughly 121.4 to 113.2 million years ago. Finds come from Japan, including the Kitadani Formation. It was a herbivore and could move on two or four legs.
Published estimates put Fukuisaurus at a length near 4.5 m and a body mass around 400 kg.
On the family tree it sits in Hadrosauriformes, among the ornithopod dinosaurs.
