It lived in the Late Jurassic (Kimmeridgian), roughly 154.8 to 149.2 million years ago. Finds come from Germany, including the Süntel Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.
Published estimates put Europasaurus at a length near 5.7–6.2 m, hips about 1.6 m high, and a body mass around 0.8–2.1 tonnes.
