In 2001, O. Mateus and M. Telles Antunes published the name Draconyx.
Fossils referred to Draconyx date to the Late Jurassic (Tithonian), roughly 149.2 to 143.1 million years ago. Finds come from Portugal, including the Lourinhã Formation. It was a herbivore and could move on two or four legs.
Published estimates put Draconyx at a length near 2.9–3.9 m, hips about 1 m high, and a body mass around 150 kg.
On the family tree it sits in Dryomorpha, among the ornithopod dinosaurs.
