The story in short

In 2007, X. Wang and colleagues published the name Dongbeititan.

Fossils referred to Dongbeititan date to the Early Cretaceous (Barremian), roughly 125.8 to 121.4 million years ago. Finds come from China, including the Yixian Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.

Published estimates put Dongbeititan at a length near 15 m, hips about 2 m high, and a body mass around 7 tonnes.

On the family tree it sits in Somphospondyli, among the sauropod dinosaurs.
