In 2005, G. Peng and colleagues published the name Dashanpusaurus. The name means “dashanpu lizard.”
It lived in the Middle Jurassic · Late Jurassic (Bajocian–Oxfordian), roughly 170.9 to 154.8 million years ago. Finds come from China, including the Shaximiao Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.
Published estimates put Dashanpusaurus at a length near 13.8 m, hips about 3.7 m high, and a body mass around 5.2 tonnes.
