The story in short
In 2005, P. J. Makovicky and colleagues published the name Buitreraptor. The name means “la Buitrera seizer.”
It lived in the Late Cretaceous (Cenomanian), roughly 100.5 to 93.9 million years ago. Finds come from Argentina, including the Candeleros Formation. It was a carnivore and walked on two legs.
Published estimates put Buitreraptor at a length near 1.3 m and a body mass around 3 kg.
