In 1987, P. Yadagiri and K. Ayyasami published the name Bruhathkayosaurus. The name means “huge-bodied lizard.”
It lived in the Late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian), roughly 72.2 to 66 million years ago. Finds come from India, including the Kallamedu Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.
Published estimates put Bruhathkayosaurus at a length near 40 m and a body mass around 110 tonnes.
