Bainoceratops was formally named in 2003 by V. S. Tereshchenko and V. R. Alifanov. The name means “bain-Dzak horned face.”
Fossils referred to Bainoceratops date to the Late Cretaceous (Campanian), roughly 83.6 to 72.2 million years ago. Finds come from Mongolia, including the Djadokhta Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.
Published estimates put Bainoceratops at a length near 2–3 m.
