The story in short

Agujaceratops was formally named in 2006 by S. G. Lucas and colleagues. The name means “horned face from Aguja.”

It lived in the Late Cretaceous (Campanian), roughly 83.6 to 72.2 million years ago. Finds come from the United States, including the Aguja Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.

Published estimates put Agujaceratops at a length near 4.3 m, hips about 1.8 m high, and a body mass around 1.5 tonnes.

On the family tree it sits in Chasmosaurinae, among the horned dinosaurs.

This entry is the whole genus. The type species is Agujaceratops mariscalensis. Other named species include Agujaceratops mavericus.
