Turanoceratops was formally named in 1989 by L. A. Nessov and colleagues. The name means “horned face.”
Fossils referred to Turanoceratops date to the Late Cretaceous (Turonian), roughly 93.9 to 89.8 million years ago. Finds come from Uzbekistan, including the Bissekty Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on two legs.
Published estimates put Turanoceratops at a length near 2 m, hips about 0.9 m high, and a body mass around 175 kg.
