The story in short

Tietasaura was formally named in 2024 by K. L. N. Bandeira and colleagues. The name means “tieta lizard.”

It lived in the Early Cretaceous (Valanginian · Hauterivian), roughly 137.1 to 125.8 million years ago. Finds come from Brazil, including the Marfim Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on two legs.

The fossils of Tietasaura are too incomplete for a responsible length, hip height, or weight, so those fields are left blank on purpose.

On the family tree it sits in Elasmaria, among the ornithopod dinosaurs.
