The story in short
The genus Tachiraptor dates to 2014, the year M. C. Langer and colleagues described it. The name means “thief from Táchira.”
It lived in the Early Jurassic (Hettangian), roughly 201.4 to 199.5 million years ago. Finds come from Venezuela, including the La Quinta Formation. It was a carnivore and walked on two legs.
Published estimates put Tachiraptor at a length near 1.5 m.
