In 2019, S. J. Nesbitt and colleagues published the name Suskityrannus. The name means “coyote tyrant.”

It lived in the Late Cretaceous (Turonian), roughly 93.9 to 89.8 million years ago. Finds come from the United States, including the Moreno Hill Formation. It was a carnivore and walked on two legs.

Published estimates put Suskityrannus at a length near 3 m, hips about 0.9 m high, and a body mass around 40 kg.

On the family tree it sits in Tyrannosauroidea, among the theropod dinosaurs.
