The story in short
In 1996, D. A. Russell published the name Sigilmassasaurus. The name means “sigilmassa lizard.”
Fossils referred to Sigilmassasaurus date to the Late Cretaceous (Cenomanian), roughly 100.5 to 93.9 million years ago. Finds come from Morocco. It was a carnivore and walked on two legs.
The fossils of Sigilmassasaurus are too incomplete for a responsible length, hip height, or weight, so those fields are left blank on purpose.
On the family tree it sits in Spinosaurinae, among the theropod dinosaurs.
