Moros was formally named in 2019 by L. E. Zanno and colleagues.

Fossils referred to Moros date to the Late Cretaceous (Cenomanian), roughly 100.5 to 93.9 million years ago. Finds come from the United States, including the Cedar Mountain Formation. It was a carnivore and walked on two legs.

Published estimates put Moros at a length near 3 m, hips about 0.9 m high, and a body mass around 78 kg.

On the family tree it sits in Tyrannosauroidea, among the theropod dinosaurs.
