The genus Morelladon dates to 2015, the year J. M. Gasulla and colleagues described it.
It lived in the Early Cretaceous (Barremian), roughly 125.8 to 121.4 million years ago. Finds come from Spain, including the Arcillas de Morella Formation. It was a herbivore and could move on two or four legs.
Published estimates put Morelladon at a length near 7.6 m, hips about 2.2 m high, and a body mass around 1.9 tonnes.
On the family tree it sits in Styracosterna, among the ornithopod dinosaurs.
