Indosuchus was formally named in 1933 by F. V. Huene and C. A. Matley. The name means “indian crocodile.”
It lived in the Late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian), roughly 72.2 to 66 million years ago. Finds come from India, including the Lameta Formation. It was a carnivore and walked on two legs.
Published estimates put Indosuchus at a length near 7 m and a body mass around 1.2 tonnes.
