Hypacrosaurus was formally named in 1913 by B. Brown.
It lived in the Late Cretaceous (Campanian · Maastrichtian), roughly 83.6 to 66 million years ago. Finds come from Canada and the United States, including the Horseshoe Canyon Formation. It was a herbivore and could move on two or four legs.
Published estimates put Hypacrosaurus at a length near 9.1 m, hips about 3.6 m high, and a body mass around 4 tonnes.
