Hungarosaurus was formally named in 2005 by A. Ősi. The name means “hungarian lizard.”
It lived in the Late Cretaceous (Santonian), roughly 85.7 to 83.6 million years ago. Finds come from Hungary, including the Csehbánya Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.
Published estimates put Hungarosaurus at a length near 4–4.8 m, hips about 0.9 m high, and a body mass around 0.7–1 tonnes.
