The genus Daurlong dates to 2022, the year X. Wang and colleagues described it. The name means “daur dragon.”
Fossils referred to Daurlong date to the Early Cretaceous (Aptian), roughly 121.4 to 113.2 million years ago. Finds come from China, including the Longjiang Formation. It was a carnivore and walked on two legs.
Published estimates put Daurlong at a length near 1.5 m, hips about 0.4 m high, and a body mass around 2 kg.
