The genus Cedarosaurus dates to 1999, the year V. Tidwell and colleagues described it. The name means “cedar lizard.”
It lived in the Early Cretaceous (Valanginian), roughly 137.1 to 132.6 million years ago. Finds come from the United States, including the Cedar Mountain Formation. It was a herbivore and walked on four legs.
Published estimates put Cedarosaurus at a length near 15 m, hips about 2.3 m high, and a body mass around 10 tonnes.
