In 1983, R. Barsbold published the name Adasaurus. The name means “evil lizard.”
It lived in the Late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian), roughly 72.2 to 66 million years ago. Finds come from Mongolia, including the Nemegt Formation. It was a carnivore and walked on two legs.
Published estimates put Adasaurus at a length near 2.4–3.5 m, hips about 0.6 m high, and a body mass around 36–87 kg.
